Eagle Days Return to the Lake of the Ozarks for the 14th Year

 The 14th Annual Lake of the Ozarks Eagle Days is this weekend!   This is a fun and educational event that is perfect for the entire family.  People come from all around the area to see these beautiful eagles - last year had a record number of over 3700 viewers!!  The event is FREE and open to the public.  If you decide to attend the event be sure to bring your camera and binoculars to get the best view of our feathered friends.  

The event will take place from 9am – 5:30 pm on Saturday, January 4th and from 10am – 4:30 pm on Sunday, January 5th.   Here are some details of things going on during the Eagle Days.

Saturday, January 4th

The Right Family Christmas Story

The Holidays are a great time for celebrating old traditions as well as creating new ones.  A few years ago, I was introduced to the Right Family Christmas Story and thought it would make a fun tradition or activity for any group that gets together for the Holiday.


To participate in the Right Family Christmas story, each person needs a small gift (try to get equally good or equally bad gifts for the most fun).  One person will not participate but will read the story below.  Every time you hear the reader say "right" you pass the gift in your hand to the right, every time you hear the reader say "left" you pass the gift in your hand to the left.  At the end of the story, the gift in your hand is yours to keep!! I hope you enjoy this little game and maybe it can become a tradition for your family!

The Right Family Christmas Story

Christmas was almost here, and Mother RIGHT was finishing the Christmas baking.  Father RIGHT, Sue RIGHT, and Billy RIGHT returned from their last-minute Christmas errands.

"There is not much LEFT to be done," said Father RIGHT as he came in to the kitchen.

"Did you leave the basket of food at church?" asked Mother RIGHT.   I  LEFT  it RIGHT where you told me to," said Father RIGHT.  "I'm glad my shopping is done," said Billy RIGHT.  "I don't have any money LEFT."

The hall telephone rang, and Susan RIGHT  LEFT  to answer it.  She rushed back and told the family, "Aunt Tillie RIGHT  LEFT  a package for us RIGHT on Grandma RIGHT's porch.  I'll go over there RIGHT away and get it," she said as she LEFT in a rush.

Father RIGHT LEFT the kitchen and brought in the Christmas tree.  By the time Susan RIGHT returned, Mother RIGHT, Father RIGHT, and Billy RIGHT had begun trimming the tree.  The entire RIGHT family sang carols as they finished the decorating.  Then they LEFT all the presents arranged under the tree and went to bed, hoping they had selected the RIGHT gifts for their family.

Now I hope you have the RIGHT present for yourself, because that's all that's LEFT to our story................except to wish you a Merry Christmas.................isn't that RIGHT??????

The 2014 Annual Boat Shows in Missouri

It's almost time for the 2014 Annual Boat Shows!!  The shows at the beginning of the year are always highly anticipated because many dealers will be introducing their newest lines of boats, marine accessories, docks, boat lifts, PWCs and so much more.  

Boat shows offer the opportunity to shop around, discuss and research products and find the perfect item for your needs and budget.  So, whether you're looking for a specific item or you just want to see all the latest and greatest, the upcoming boatshows are a great place to do it.

Easy Stuffed Vidalia Onion Recipe

This is one of my favorite recipes to serve friends and family.  The recipe is super easy and everyone always loves it!  One of our previous guests/friends shared the recipe with me.  We hope that you enjoy it too and Happy Holidays!

Stuffed Vidalia Onions

Ingredients:

• 4 Large Vidalia onions peeled
• 1-3 oz package of cream cheese softened
• 3 slices of bacon cooked and crumbled
• 1/4 cup chopped chives
• 1/4 cup of sliced mushrooms
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon pepper
• 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
• 1/4 cup of whipping cream
• 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese

Directions:

Slice the onions in half and place on a baking dish.  Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 mins.  Set aside.  Combine cream cheese, bacon, chives, mushrooms, salt, pepper, garlic salt, whipping cream and cheddar cheese. Put one heaping tablespoon of this mixture on each onion half and bake an additional 10-15 minutes.  Garnish with parsley.  Yield 4 servings.
