Top 20 Things to Do at Lake of the Ozarks: Part 2

Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start to Summer! Join us at the Lake of the Ozarks and participate in the many family-friendly attractions this beautiful area has to offer. Last week, we brought you the first half of our 2 part series: Top 20 Things to Do at Lake of the Ozarks. Here are the next 10 things to check out on your next vacation at the Lake of the Ozarks:

TRIPADVISOR'S TOP THINGS TO DO AT THE LAKE

#11 Shawnee Bluff Winery

Shawnee Bluff Winery offers wine by the bottle or by the glass. They also offer wine tastings in a beautiful setting with gorgeous views of the Lake of the Ozarks. Situated atop the bluff, the winery offers a 14 mile incredible, panoramic view of the Lake. Originally renovated in 2011, they now have new decks to enjoy the wine and the view, an indoor tasting room and bistro, and a new brick oven to prepare the best pizza at the Lake.

#12 Game & Entertainment Centers

Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf, Sugar Creek Mini Golf and other miniature golf courses offer fun for the whole family. The courses here at the Lake range from beginner to challenging, with your ball rolling through extraordinary landscapes, waterfalls and more!

#13 Horseshoe Bend Brewing Company

Horseshoe Bend Brewing Co., is a micro-brewery located on "the Bend", of Lake of the Ozarks, a 7-mile long peninsula. After homebrewing for a few years, Chris and Carrie Case transformed a Firehouse from the 70's into a 7-barrel brewhouse. They focus on traditional brewing methods along with new techniques to produce distinct full-flavored beers! While they don't provide structured tours, the facility has open windows allowing you to look into where the magic happens!

#14  Swinging Bridge

The swinging bridge, located in Lake of the Ozarks State Park, is one of the most remarkable of the man-made attractions in this area. The bridge was designed when the original low bridges that existed on the tributaries of the Osage River became covered with water when the Lake was built. The bridge is made of wood and is an amazing work of engineering genius.

#15 Casa de Loco Winery

The perfect reason to visit the Lake of the Ozarks, OR the perfect place to go if you’re already here, Casa de Loco provides a unique and memorable experience.  Whether you’re stopping by for a short visit, spending the day or even staying with us for the weekend, you will find a wonderful way to spend your time.  Stop by the gift and wine shop for a tasting, enjoy a glass of your favorite wine out on the patio, take in the view of the river from the bluff top, walk down to the river for a closer look, or even float to us!

#16 Theater & Performances

Main Street Music Hall offers 3 great shows each season! The Best of Main Street Opry has made the show a favorite destination for over 20 years now. Reelin in the Years has also been proven to be a big hit with the audiences of the Main Street Music Hall the last four years. During the Holiday season, Christmas on Main Street never disappoints!

#17 Golf Courses

When it comes to Missouri golf, Central Missouri's Lake of the Ozarks Golf Trail is way above par. Home to more than 13 area golf courses carved out of Missouri's Ozark Hills. The courses feature beautiful tree-lined fairways and many courses overlooking the Lake of the Ozarks itself. From beginners to seasoned pros, the variety of courses will challenge anyone's golf game. Many Lake of the Ozarks golf courses are designed by world-class notables such as Arnold Palmer, Tom Weiskopf, Bruce Devlin and Robert Von Hagge. The Lake of the Ozarks Golf Trail is the premier destination for golf in the Midwest.

#18 Lake of the Ozarks State Park

Lake of the Ozarks State Park has a little bit of something for everyone. Crave water adventure? Lake of the Ozarks has a full complement of boating options. Want a quiet place to hike or mountain bike? The park’s thousands of wooded acres have lots of places to get away from it all, with 12 trails that wind through the park. Cabins and yurts make the park a welcome place for families looking to enjoy the lake but escape the hustle and bustle of some of the nearby towns. And Ozark Caverns, complete with its lantern-light cave tour, presents an unforgettable experience.

#19 Bagnell Dam

The Bagnell Dam is where the lake begins and the fun never ends! It impounds the Osage River, creating the Lake of the Ozarks. The 148-foot tall concrete gravity dam was built by the Union Electric Company (now Ameren UE) for the purpose of hydroelectric power generation as its Osage Powerplant. The facility with eight generators has a maximum capacity of 215 megawatts. Located near the dam is the Bagnell Dam Strip, featuring shops, restaurants, attractions and more!

#20 Lazer Force Lazer Tag Zone

Lazer tag is like a real life "Role Playing Game." When you step into the arena you find yourself engulfed in blacklight, fog, flashing lights and heart pumping music. Excitement from start to finish for players 5 to 85 years of age. When playing, a player shoots a lazer beam at another player's lights. When you tag them, you receive points for the tag and they will go down for 5 seconds (meaning they can't shoot). Unlike paintball, there's no pain! When the game is over, you can't believe how much fun you had. You come out and get your scorecard that tells you who you shot, who shot you, how well you did, and how well your team did. Win or lose, everyone had fun and is ready for another exciting game.
