1. Host a BBQ.
Nothing says summer holiday weekend than a BBQ! In fact, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Americans typically consume 7 billion hot dogs. If you're staying home, invite friends and family over for a potluck style BBQ. If you're staying at our Lake of the Ozarks resort, we have a great lakeside BBQ area that you can use to grill up some tasty food for your family during your vacation. From hot dogs and hamburgers to potato salad and watermelon, a BBQ is the perfect way to celebrate Labor Day Weekend!
2. Visit a State or National Park.
Labor Day Weekend means that summer is quickly coming to an end, and there's limited time for enjoying the outdoors before the cool temperatures arrive. Take advantage of the long weekend and do some exploring at a state or national park. If you're joining us at the Lake of the Ozarks, we have two state parks with numerous trails and nature features to keep you entertained. Ha Ha Tonka State Park even features the remains of a castle!
3. Pamper Yourself.
Labor Day Weekend marks the end of summer vacation, and it's back to school, not just for students, but also for teachers. This is a great time to pamper yourself as you prepare to settle into a new school year. Even if you're not a teacher or student, the long weekend presents itself as a great opportunity for some you-time! Book a massage, pedicure, hair appointment, etc. to enjoy a relaxing weekend. You can even make it a mother-daughter outing to get some quality bonding time in. The boys will be fine without you. ;)
4. Go to a Concert.
Cities across the country will be hosting events for Labor Day Weekend, and you're sure to find some great live music. Here at the Lake of the Ozarks, you'll find a variety of venues featuring live entertainment. Many of the restaurants on and off the water will have live music for the holiday weekend. From country to rock, you're sure to find something you like to keep you entertained all night long!
5. Hit the Water.
The season for swimming and boating in the Midwest is coming to an end! Take advantage of the long holiday weekend to hit the water one last time. Whether you just want to cruise around or do some watersports, like tubing, skiing or parasailing, you're sure to have a great time with friends and family out on the water. If you're at the Lake of the Ozarks, there's no shortage of fun to be had on the water. Visit one of the many waterfront restaurants for a tasty meal and some cold drinks or find a quiet cove to hangout in and do some swimming.
